Getting Adjusted

Well we have been busy lately making sure that Arwen adjusts properly. After two days of being in with supervised turn out, she finally got turned out into the pasture behind the barn. She got turned out with the baby for a buddy.
She did wonderful. She moseyed around a bit then ate hay. Checked out the horses on the other side of the fence then came back to the hay.
The second day out they put Red out with her as well as the baby. Red is an older horse that is pretty calm so we knew he wouldn't bother Arwen.

Wednesday, we turned her out into the big pasture with the herd. I am so mad at myself for not taking the video camera.
She went out and took off running. She was so beautiful. Well that got the attention of the herd who had to see what the commotion was about. I was worried about Aslan, Heaven and Little Man as they are the most dominant.
Sure enough Heaven took off after her and chased her for a bit. Arwen ran but seemed to actually enjoy it. Little man tried to go after her and she put her rear to him pretty quick and he gave up.
Aslan came after her and saw the back of her hooves a little too close to his face so he ran off to dominate someone else. We really enjoyed watching the herd dynamics.
Now the whole herd felt goofy and everyone ran all around the pasture kicking up heels, bucking and snorting. It was so beautiful watching them.
We waited to leave after Arwen was allowed to drop her head and graze and the others went back to the hay. Praise God she made it through the first day out without a scratch.
She has not integrated enough to bully her way into the hay ring yet but she is fine grazing. Red, I have noticed, grazes beside her so she has great protection.
I am attaching a slide show of her first few days.
